Dark Mofo

Mona (the Muesum of Old and New Art) hosts the midwinter festival Dark Mofo every year to celebrate the winter solstice. The festival is a celebration of food, art, music, with some dark undertones. One of the main attractions at Dark Mofo is the Winter Feast where thousands of people sit in a large dining hall and dine on food prepared by guest chefs, snack on local treats, and drink some of the best local beverages. Festival of Voices

The 14th Annual Festival of Voices is on from June 29th to July 15th and celebrates the beauty of the voice. The festivals has pop up choir performances during the day from local performers and choirs that come down just so they can sing. The main attraction is the iconic “Big Sing Bonfire” held in Salamanca. The Big Sing Bonfire is a special night to promote singing and community together and attracts up to 5000 people each year. There will be bonfires and entertainment throughout Salamanca and the big bonfire where everyone will sing together as one.

Chocolate Winterfest

For those who have a sweet tooth, the Chocolate Winterfest in Latrobe is perfect for you. The Chocolate Winterfest will have you celebrating all things chocolate with a range of events, stalls, and performances throughout the day. If you love brunch and chocolate then you have to attend the Brunch O’Chock on Sunday which is comprised of culinary delights with chocolate as the inspiration. Huon Mid-Winter Festival

Craft ciders, artisian cheeses, local foods, rolling in the hay, this is Huon Valley midwinter festival. This festival is focused on wassailing: tradition of scaring the nasty spirits away from the apple trees to promote a good harvest and is filled with 3 days of singing, dancing, and activities. The opening ceremony will have you listening to some amazing local bands, drinking craft ciders by Willie Smiths and enjoying the annual burning man.
